FRESH + FEATURED | UPDATED FOR 09-20-2023

We truly appreciate the impressive build quality of old Flexsteel chairs, particularly the steel under-carriage that makes the frame long-lasting. But the visible part of the chair counts, too. This one sports fresh upholstery in a durable, textured dark orange. There’s even more to appreciate: the taller back for a more comfortable sit, button tufts for style and gently tapered walnut legs.

Organic modern fiber art from Don Freedman, who came to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s with his complex, mixed fiber woven creations. This large piece is made primarily with jute and shows a date of 1981. Freedman’s signature appears on a wood button sewn into the lower right corner. Clean and in excellent condition with just minor signs of its age. DIMENSIONS: 44″W x 46″H.

This mid-century styled skyline painting on canvas is almost mysterious in its aesthetic. It’s painted in muted tones of gray and ochre, and the cityscape seems to be floating on the foreground. Signed Lee Reynolds. FRAMED DIMENSIONS: 41″W x 41″H.

Classic mid-century modern skyline art by Ozz Franca (Brazil – 1928 to 1991). This framed print depicts a sweeping cityscape fronted by a harbor. DIMENSIONS: 45-3/4″L x 20-1/2″H.

DIMENSIONS: 71″L x 19″D x 31″H.

Gather around this Danish modern dining set in rosewood, with plenty of room for a big get-together. Exception trestle-base table from Gudme Møbelfabrik seats eight to ten people comfortably when the two expansion leaves (stored beneath the table top) are added. Plus, it has a full set of custom made table pads. There are eight Niels Otto Møller-designed chairs in total: two Model 68 arm chairs and six Model 85 chairs. All have solid rosewood frames and the original black and white checked seat upholstery. We’ve done a light cleaning and rejuvenation, and the entire set is in exceptional condition. Sold as a set. TABLE DIMENSIONS – CLOSED: 75″L x 42-1/2″D x 28-1/2″H. EXTENSION LEAVES: two leaves at 19-1/2″ each for total 113″L.

This restored walnut dresser from Lane Furniture is economical in design but expansive in style. Solidly built but a little drab after 50+ years of existence, we gave it a thorough restoration and added handsome brass drawer pulls for a slight update. DIMENSIONS: 60″L x 19″D x 31″H.

Jens Risom was a prolific designer. Which is not to say that his designs seemed rushed. On the contrary, each piece shows thoughtful consideration of both look and function. These walnut frame C-170 chairs have signature design cues, like floating seats and sculpted arms. Both are fully restored and feature period-appropriate tweed upholstery. There are two available.

Early 20th Century cabinet-sized humidor in an Asian design motif. This piece is made of mahogany with inlay details and original brass hardware. The cabinet is lined with polished tin and is in exceptional condition. We refinished the top and did a respectful rejuvenation of the rest. DIMENSIONS: 12-1/2″W x 9-1/2″D x 23-1/2″H.

In the 1970s, modernism embraced plastics as a malleable material that could be shaped and colored in almost endless ways. And modular, portable furniture was on trend. These Diablo stools, made in Italy by Giganplast, incorporate both: they are lightweight, colorful and serve multiple functions. Each stool is made of two interlocking pieces and can be used as solid colors – orange and yellow here – or mixed. Offered as a pair. DIMENSIONS: 12-1/2″ diameter x 18″ tall.

Breath deep and smell the subtle aroma of cedar inside this classic mid-century storage chest. Made by Lane Furniture, it’s lined with cedar to protect wool and silk garments and blankets from ravenous moths! Fully restored walnut exterior with a utility drawer. Stamped underneath with a manufacture date of 04/15/1967. DIMENSIONS: 53-1/4″L x 17″D x 22-3/4″H.

Lane Furniture made a name for itself in mid-century modern designs throughout the 1960s. They used mixed woods with walnut as the go-to choice and unique styling. Fortunately, that aesthetic carried over into the 1970s, and this accent table pair is a great example. The primary wood is walnut and the tables have a dot pattern that harks back to the Acclaim collection. These are fully restored and ready to use – even as a nightstand option. Sold as a pair. DIMENSIONS: 21″W x 27″D x 22″H.

Sculptural accent tables from Bassett Furniture circa 1960s. The parabola-shaped sides and dog bone top give them and organic feel. Restored tops and refreshed all around. Sold as a pair. DIMENSIONS: 20″W x 30″L x 20″H.

Casually stylish. That’s a perfect tag for this pair of revitalized easy chairs from the Viko Baumritter line. The frames are rock solid, made of tube steel with a copper enameled finish. The cigar-shaped arms are solid walnut and freshly restored. But those cushions are even a step above. They’re custom made using new old stock fabric fresh from the original package. The funky blue-green pattern is matched perfectly on the front and back. And they have all new foam. Sold as a pair. DIMENSIONS: 25-1/2″W x 30″D x 28″H. Seat height is 15-3/4″.

Fresh chairs from our furniture-making partner with a design that’s simultaneously ultra-modern, retro-inspired and organic. Handcrafted using solid African mahogany, with sculpted sides and a ladder back. We created cushions in the spirit of the frames: bold, versatile and unique. They’re reversible, with a patterned design on one side and complementary solid on the reverse. All have high-quality foam. DIMENSIONS: 25-1/2″W x 31″D x 31″H.

Sitting in this freshly reupholstered barrel chair is like a hug – a soft, relaxing hug. But if you’re the fidgety type, it also does a 360-degree swivel. Revived with orange tweed fabric, new foundation and a new seat cushion. DIMENSIONS: 27-1/2″W x 30″D x 27-1/2″H. SEAT: 16″H x 21″D.

A kind friend of the store entrusted us with this pair of Jasper Chair Company executive chairs. They had good bones – great even – but after decades of hard work they looked a little haggard. We took on the challenge and disassembled, stripped, cleaned, stained and sealed the solid walnut frames. They needed fresh threads, too, so we had them upholstered in a durable commericial fabric with a graphic pattern. The mechanicals are strong as ever, and the chairs swivel and tilt. There are adjustments for seat height and back position/tension. There are two available.

A landfill went to bed hungry because of this project that was created using all rescued materials. The cushion was saved from a vintage chair set for a makeover. The result is truly one of a kind. DIMENSIONS: 23″W x 23″D x 17-1/2″H.

Designed and developed in 1946 by Charles and Ray Eames, this clever room divider might be just right for current times. We all need a little privacy, but it’s nice to share space with the right people, too. The Folding Wood Screen (FWS) adds flexibility and portability, with six undulating panels that unfold from a slim vertical to a five-foot divider. The panels are made using ash veneer on the front and back over layers of maple. Each panel is connected with a polypropylene mesh fabric, allowing flexible positioning of the panels. The FWS was in production from 1946 to 1955, retired and then reintroduced by Herman Miller in 1994. This piece is from that second generation of production. OPEN DIMENSIONS: 60″L x 2-1/4″D x 68″H, and 10″W in the folded position.

We bought a chair from you we just love. I believe it was made locally by a retired postal worker, will you have more of his chairs in your shop anytime soon? I am looking to purchase 1 additional chair. Thanks! Jill
Hello. We have one chair by our furniture-making partner in the store right now. I’m going to post it to the showcase section this morning. There are more in the works with different designs and woods. Please EMAIL us with your request and we’ll follow up as chairs become available: midmodmen@gmail.com.
I have a bentwood rocking chair with the name Thonet stamped in back piece…..near perfect condition…few small scuff marks lower side…..would you be interested in purchasing?
Thank you, Kathy. We have two similar chairs in inventory and aren’t looking to add more for now. The Thonet ones are authentic and perhaps more desired. You might have luck reaching out to A Rare Bird or Loft Antiques. Thank you for giving us consideration.

Hey i would like to buy just the shell. Is it possible? Can I get some more pics pls.
The shell will be the same price because we wouldn’t have a use for the base. Email MidModMen@gmail.com and we can send full sized pictures.
Finally made it to your store and loved everything about it! Great experience.
Only question is where am I going to put it?

Just wanted to tell you what an enjoyable shopping experience we had on Friday, Sept. 8th. I found just what I wanted! The owners were helpful and kind (and they love dogs). Will definitely shop there again.
Sara: Thank you for visiting us. We’re happy to hear that we had what you were looking for. And, yes, we do love our dogs!
