The end of the year is packed with holidays of all sorts. That means get-togethers, celebrations and gifts. Luckily, MidModMen+friends is stocked with modern, mid-century and made-in-Minnesota goods perfect for decorating, hosting and giving. We have you covered, from vintage cocktail glasses and tabletop accessories to handmade stockings and locally made cutting boards. There are even stocking stuffers and ornaments for less than $5.
Items showcased here are just the tip of the icicle. We carry multiples of some but just one of many – especially vintage goods. So it pays to visit early. And because we refresh inventory continuously you’ll want to stop in more than once.
You’ll find us at 2401 University Avenue West, Saint Paul, MN 55114:

- DECEMBER: Friday-Saturday 11-5 and Sunday 11-4 until 12/23 | closed Dec. 24-31

These playful holiday stockings are handmade in Minnesota by Modern Otter Designs (MOD), an artistic collaboration between craftsman/designer John Zuerlein and award-winning illustrator Jeff Hinchee. The duo specializes in creating mid-century inspired home furnishings, accessories and holiday items.
The stocking designs are all-original, inspired by sources as diverse as mid-century glassware, greeting cards, vintage magazines and artists such as Jørgen Weirsøe and Christian Flensted.
There are six primary designs, some with variations. The stockings measure 19″ long x 9″ at the widest, with a toe large enough to fit an orange! Personalization – adding a name or word to a stocking’s top panel – is available for $10 and requires a one-week turnaround time.

Modern Otter Designs applied its distinctive holiday stocking designs to Christmas cards with a retro modern vibe. Each pack includes eight 4″ x 6″ cards – two of each design – printed on high-quality paper. They are blank inside so you can add your personalized message, and there are matching envelopes.

Created by artist Joel Itman, this seemingly simple four-tile puzzle might have you squirming for a while as you attempt to place each tile in the correct position. The puzzle pieces are glazed ceramic tiles with original artwork. Five colors available: blue, green, orange, red and violet. Tiles are housed in a square plastic tray. Handmade in Italy.

Colorful greeting cards from the My Pals series by artist Joel Itman. The image for each card is taken from an original artwork: acrylic painting, hand-painted ceramic tile or colored pencil drawing. There are dozens of designs; these are just a sampling. All are blank inside and are printed in Italy on high-quality paper and come with matching envelopes. CARD DIMENSIONS: 6.7″ x 4.4″.

We have a diverse selection of vintage glassware and serving accessories. All are inspected and guaranteed to be in excellent to mint condition. There are sets by Iittala (Finland), Culver, Queens Vitreon, Cera and others. The selection changes often, so we’ll continue to add fresh inventory all season.

We’re excited to offer solid wood charcuterie boards made right here in Saint Paul by Butcher Block Furniture. BBF creates custom wood furniture for every room but with an emphasis on kitchen work spaces. These handmade boards are both functional and beautiful, made with walnut, ash, maple, white oak and purple heart. Each one is unique.

The store is sprinkled with unique items with a seasonal vibe. There’s a little of everything, from winter-themed Scandinavian imports and designer ornaments to classic ceramic Christmas trees. These are usually one-of-a-kind pieces, so if you love something don’t hesitate to grab it.

Some people are so unique that you might think they’re hard to shop for. But just maybe they’re not if you think outside the (gift) box and give something as distinctive as they are. The store is always stocked with original art, custom made pillows, hard-to-find collectibles, studio pottery, art glass and all manner of curiosities. We typically have just one of these unique items, and the selection changes almost daily.
