KENT COFFEY PERSPECTA 9-DRAWER DRESSER | $995 The Perspecta collection from furniture maker Kent Coffey was an understated design counterpoint to many of their other designs. They went for simplicity with an architectural flair, and used high-quality American walnut with rosewood drawer pulls on the outer stacks. ROSEWOOD MEDIA CREDENZA FROM DYRLUND | $1,595 The rosewood panels on this Danish-made media credenza are so beautifully distracting that it’s easy to forget how practical this piece is. Made in Denmark by Dyrlund, this credenza was designed to house a stereo system and serve as the foundation for your TV set up. It sits a little low to create the perfect TV height and is on casters for portability. Features includes finished panels on all sides, tambour doors that glide out of view and fully open the cabinet, a pullout shelf ideal for a turntable, a utility drawer, pre-drilled holes for cables and generous compartments for gear and media. FULLY RESTORED MID-CENTURY LOVESEAT | $1,195 We found this mid-century vintage loveseat in sad condition. It was dirty, the finish was worn to bare wood in some places and the cushions were long gone. Luckily, like a lot of furniture from the era, the frame is well made and in excellent structural condition. So we tackled the revival by refinishing the frame from top to bottom with a warm walnut finish. For cushions we chose a coppery orange fabric with a tight weaves and very slight sheen. We added piping and four button tufts to up the style. And now it’s ready for the next generations of enjoyment. Dimensions are 48″L x 29″D x 30″H.
MADE IN MINNESOTA: DANISH MODERN STYLE FRAME CHAIRS | $845 EACH* Sleek solid wood lounge chairs designed and handmade in Minnesota using sapele wood, often referred to as African mahogany. Sapele is a hard wood with dramatic figuring that is prized for use in furniture, high-end flooring and musical instruments. The chairs feature spear-like arms, angled and tapered back legs, and webbed seat foundations. The professionally upholstered box cushions are done in a soft but durable woven fabric in light sea foam. These chairs are perfectly scaled for authentic mid-century modern interiors.

DANISH TEAK COFFEE TABLE: GEORGE TANIER SELECTION | $1,095 Finely crafted teak coffee table made by Sibast Møbler. Made in Denmark and imported to North America as part of the George Tanier Selection. The top appears to float above the recessed base, has flared edges along its length and is rounded at the corners. The base is classic Danish style with tapered round legs and supports that reach up to – but don’t touch – the tabletop. Dimensions are 60″L x 22″D x 17.25″H.

REVIVED DANISH-STYLE LOUNGE CHAIR | $445 Sitting down can be fun when the chair you choose is this lively. We restored this mid-century lounge chair by refinishing the frame to tease out the previously hidden wood grain. Then we added all new cushions with a burst of retro pop art design.
JANE & GORDON MARTZ FOR MARSHALL STUDIOS TABLE | $1,895 Rarely available large round console table designed by Jane and Gordon Martz and crafted by their company, Marshall Studios, circa 1960s. The frame is solid American walnut, with a weighted round base, six slim columns and a rounded bullnose on the top. The hand-crafted top is a mosaic of round tiles of varying sizes in a deep charcoal gray that approaches black. It is without flaws. Dimensions are 44″ diameter x 25-1/4″ high.
MID-CENTURY SERVING CART WITH BUILT-IN WARMING TABLE | $365 Could this be the original Transformer? Ingenious portable serving cart with open and hidden storage, expandable work surfaces and a large Salton warming table. This is a two-tier cart in dark walnut with white Formica surfaces, brass-plated aluminum frame, and ball casters. One end of the top folds open to reveal a storage area for utensils and accessories. The other end has open storage. There’s a pull-out work surface on the side. The warming unit can be removed to create and fully open top that’s perfect as a bar cart. Below is a large, open shelf with enough clearance for tall items. Includes a detachable power cord. Dimensions (closed) are 44-1/2″L X x 17-1/2″D x 29″H.

CLASSIC TRANSITIONAL BOOKCASE WITH BEVELED GLASS | $895 This all wood bookcase has timeless style. It’s tall and stately with a simple, modern profile and double doors with panes of beveled glass. Inside are five fixed shelves, spaced wide enough for larger sized books or LPs. Walnut finish on solid pecan. Dimensions are 32″W x 14″D x 78-1/2″H.
ASIAN STYLED TRIPLE CREDENZA-SIDEBOARD | $995 Modern interior design is not monolithic. There can be many styles in the mix, including pieces with elaborate – and more subtle – Asian motifs. This vintage triple credenza-sideboard is a case in point. The overall lines are simple and clean like the best of mid-century modern. But it’s the small flourishes that elevate it to room-defining status. Features all wood construction and decoration, with original brass cabinet hardware. Each of the three cabinets is independent and all have a combination of open compartment, adjustable shelf and utility drawer. We gave this distinctive piece a light rejuvenation, leaving the vintage patina intact. Dimensions are 54″L x 20″D x 32-1/4″H.
INTRODUCING CUSTOM MADE LP CABINETS | $500 EACH In keeping with our commitment to local artisans and artists, we’re pleased to introduce these specially commissioned cabinets from Minneapolis-based Hossle Woodworks.
They’ve been designed – and sized – specifically to house LPs, and can hold about 140 standard records in sleeves. They’re constructed of walnut-faced plywood with exposed edges, exposed edge legs and rabbet joints. They have a boiled linseed oil finish with a lacquer top coat. Dimensions are 27-1/4″W x 14″D x 21-7/8″H.
We have two available for purchase in the store. Additional units are available by special order. There also will be an extra-long version that holds 225 LPs. Ask us about it when you visit the store.
JANE & GORDON MARTZ WALNUT FLOOR LAMP | $695 Exceptional solid walnut floor lamp designed by Jane and Gordon Martz for Marshall Studios. Features a round disc base with an inverse bow and gently tapered stem. Three-way light socket. Overall height with shade is 58″.
RESCUED + REMADE CLUB CHAIR | $895 This arm chair packs a wallop – in looks, quality construction and seating comfort – all in a smaller footprint. We’ve taken it through a top-to-bottom restoration. The solid wood frame is fully restored and has a medium walnut finish, all the better to show off the dramatic wood grain. For the bucket seat we chose a smokey charcoal gray fabric, with just a hint of brown/taupe, to complement the wood tone. It’s a high-quality and durable fabric with a soft hand finish. We added a dash of extra style with box-stitched and button-tufted seat backs.
DANISH TEAK CABINET ON HAIRPIN LEGS | $345 It was a lonely little two-compartment cabinet when it wandered into our hands. It had slick sliding glass doors, but it had no legs to stand on. We remedied that with black powder-coated steel hairpin legs. And we added a flourish: a set of four leather boots designed to fit the legs. Dimensions are 35-1/4″L x 12″D x 31-1/2″H.
RETRO COFFEE TABLE WITH MOSAIC TILE TOP | $295 Restored retro cool 1950s coffee table in clean, white oak with a recessed mosaic tile top in like-new condition. This piece is perfect for small spaces, with a compact footprint of 39-5/8”L x 19-5/8”D x 16”H.
TEAK + TILE COFFEE TABLE MADE IN DENMARK | $345 When your coffee table doubles as a casual dining spot, your “home office” or a place for the family to gather around you need something slightly oversized. This vintage 1970s coffee table made in Denmark can do the job. It has a solid teak frame, inlaid tile top in an earthy palette, large surface area and above average height. Dimensions are 47-1/4″L x 25-1/4″D x 20-1/4″H.
1940s VINTAGE CEDAR CHEST – WATERFALL STYLE | $265 This early 1940s cedar chest from Lane Furniture is a precusor to classic mid-century modern design. The waterfall style was part traditional, part Art Deco and part American Moderne. The exterior is American walnut veneers on a hardwood core, and the trunk is lined with aromatic cedar. This piece has extra-large storage capacity and includes a built in shelf that lifts when the top is opened. Dimensions are 43-1/2″L x 18-1/2″D x 22″H.
MID-CENTURY SLIPPER CHAIRS WITH A MODERN POP | $595 EACH We rescued a pair of well-built slipper chairs and gave them a modern pop. The fresh upholstery looks like pop beads in plum, raspberry, gold and taupe on a cream background. Full-sized frames make these chairs comfortable for a long visit.
WALNUT CONSOLE TABLE-WRITING DESK | $375 This walnut console table from Lane Furniture is a great option when you want flexible function in a narrow space. JENS RISOM ‘CARIBE’ CHAIR + OTTOMAN | $1,195 Ten years ago, Design Within Reach revived Jens Risom’s original 1949 chair design for the Caribe Hilton in Puerto Rico. The reintroduction was done under the design direction of Risom himself. We have one of those early relaunch sets in solid maple with soft yellow upholstery, all in like-new condition.

POUL HUNDEVAD TEAK SERVING CART | $995 This clever mid-century teak cart spreads its wings to create an impressive platform for your dinner or cocktail party. Designed by Poul Hundevad circa 1960 and made in Denmark by Vamdrup Mobelfabrik. It has three tray-style shelves with flared edges. The bottom two are removable and you can add one to the top tray, which slides aside to accommodate its companion. The cart rolls smoothly on four original casters. We’ve rejuvenated this versatile trolley with a full cleaning and fresh coats of teak oil. Dimensions are 29-1/2″L x 20-1/4″D x 26″H. With the extra shelf added on top, the length reaches 59″.
DANISH TEAK TWO-TIER SERVING CART | $395 This serving cart is compact, lightweight but still packed with style. The top and lower levels are tray-like with upward curving edges. And the distance between them leaves ample space for tall items. It all rolls smoothly on brass and hard rubber casters. The official Danish Furniture Control stamp is embossed underneath. EARLY EAMES DCM CHAIR WITH BLACK FRAME | $445 Time Magazine declared that this iconic chair was the best design of the 20th Century. It was designed by Charles and Ray Eames, based on an earlier collaboration with Eero Saarinen. The DCM version – Dining Chair-Metal (base) – was introduced in 1951 and produced until 1957. It’s a simple but elegant piece, with molded birch plywood seat and back attached to a steel frame. This is an early version with a black coated frame. The DCM mark is embossed under the seat, along with a stamped number (9 52). Everything is in top condition: wood, frame, rubber shock mounts and original glider feet.
RETRO BARREL CHAIR IN NEW-OLD UPHOLSTERY | $445 Retro channel back barrel chair freshly reupholstered in new vintage fabric: coral with a subtle textured pattern. This is a taller backed round chair that provides full-sized seating. Adding to the fun factor: it rolls on casters.
STACKING OTTOMAN SET CIRCA 1959 | $195 SET Fun and functional set of three stacking ottomans with solid oak frames and thick red vinyl-covered cushions. This set was made in 1959 by Vincent Yeh & Co. in the Republic of China (Taiwan). Each ottoman has the original maker’s label. Dimensions of the stack are 17″ square x 23-1/2″ high.
ICONIC J16 ROCKING CHAIR BY HANS WEGNER | $995 This 1944 design is one of Hans Wegner’s best known creations. The curve of the arms, the reverse tapered dowels and the woven seat – these are the details that make the design storied. Plus, it’s a generous size with thoughtful ergonomics that make it comfortable for long, leisurely sitting. We’re offering this all original chair with lacquered solid beech frame and woven paper cord seat. In top condition. Made in Denmark by Kvist Mobler and dating from the late 1970s or early 1980s.
ALL ORIGINAL EAMES FIBERGLASS ROCKING CHAIR | $495 Rock your world with this authentic vintage fiberglass rocking chair, designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. The shell is off-white and in excellent condition with the exception of a single scar. The base and shock mounts are original, too, and also in excellent condition. This chair is a piece of design history.
HANS WEGNER INSPIRED ROCKING CHAIR | $345 Hans Wegner was a design force and influence throughout the middle of the 20th Century, and inspired admiring copycats in places as unlikely as Yugoslavia. This Wegner-style rocking chair is almost iconic in its own right. It has a solid wood frame and woven paper cord seat in back (in nearly mint condition). Luckily, the Yugoslavs made chairs better than they made cars.
EAMES FIBERGLASS CHAIR – ZENITH ROPE EDGE | $995 Early production molded fiberglass arm chair designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. The shell color is raw umber. This chair features the original Zenith Manufacturing rope edge production technique. Mounted on a four-point, swiveling wheeled base. Shell, shock mounts and base are in excellent condition.
RESTORED & RESTYLED OVER-SIZED OTTOMAN | $575 We can’t resist a great makeover, especially when the bones of what we’re working with are rock solid. This vintage ottoman came from high-end maker Tomlinson Furniture. It has a solid wood frame with x-shaped stretchers, and its undergone a complete restoration. The cushion has a coil spring core and is reupholstered in a stylized floral pattern. The fabric is woven with shades of blue and taupe. This versatile piece can be used to rest your feet, as extra seating or as an upholstered coffee table. Dimensions are 28″W x 18″H.
RESTORED & REIMAGINED CUBE CHAIR | $395 We gave this compact, walnut framed cube chair a green makeover. Not just green colored upholstery, but green as in ecologically minded. The chair is a rescue from decades of use. We cleaned and restored the walnut frame with an oil finish. Another green move was using remnants of high-quality fabric that might have otherwise been scrapped. The outside panels are wool while the seat and back are a commercial grade fabric. Chair dimensions are 23-3/4″W x 26-1/2″D x 30″H.

72″ WALNUT CREDENZA BY JASPER | $995 This walnut Jasper Office Furniture credenza is all business front, back and sides. But it has a party element to it with a sleek design. The versatile storage includes a big double cabinet and open shelf on the right. On the left are two standard drawers and an extra-roomy file drawer. The top is cantilevered over the cabinet on three sides and includes a removable glass topper. Drawer and door pulls are original, and the cabinet has walnut paneling on all four sides. That means you can use this to divide an area. Dimensions are 72″L x 21″D x 29-1/4″H.
PAUL McCOBB FOR CALVIN GROUP CHEST + VANITY SET | $1,895 Exceptional and rare three-piece walnut set designed by Paul McCobb and made by the Calvin Group. The set includes two four-drawer chests – one wider than the other – and a vanity section that bridges the two. The vanity has a lift up top with mirror, a front panel that folds down, and wood dividers inside. We refinished this piece to reveal the richly figured walnut and gave it a smooth touch. Included are the original brushed metal accents and drawer handles. OVERALL dimensions are 85-1/8″L x 18″D x 34-1/4″H. SMALL CHEST length is 24-3/4″. LARGE CHEST length is 36″. VANITY length is 24″.

DESIGN LINE LIGHTED PEDESTAL BY BILL CURRY | $595 American designer, inventor and promoter Bill Curry (1927–1971) created multiple collections of lighting that are the epitome of modernism. His lighting was sold under the Design Line brand, and included this illuminated pedestal lamp. The form is simple: a tall, square cabinet with vertical brushed aluminum and black laminate trim, faux walnut side panels, a recessed black plinth base, and a translucent milk glass top. The glass panel lifts to reveal a single socket and V-shaped reflector. The lamp provides up-lighting and is ideal for displaying a sculpture, decorative glass or other object. Dimensions are 13-1/4″ square x 36-3/4″ high.

VINTAGE LE KLINT FOLDED PENDANT SHADES | $300 EACH SHADE Vintage pendant shades created and made by Le Klint of Denmark ( https://www.leklint.com/en-GB/About-LE-KLINT/History.aspx) with designs that date to the 1940s. These folded paper shades are simple and intricate at the same time. These vintage pieces are in excellent condition with only very minor signs of wear. The buff color is uniform on the outsides. Each includes original extra-long cords with sockets and plugs.

ANTIQUE JAPANESE HIBACHI-TANSU CHEST | $400 All modern and no personality can add up to a so-so space. Break the mold and add some personality.mplify the personality of your space with furnishings that break the mold. This antique Japanese hibachi/tansu cabinet will do the trick. It dates from the early 1900s and served as a small space heater by placing hot charcoals in the open-topped copper bin. You can use it as dry sink for potted plants, a unique end table, or the perfect entryway companion. The cabinet sits atop a free-standing base, the copper bin is removable and the five drawers on the side and bottom are fully functioning. Lacquered in a deep orange over Paulownia wood. Dimensions, including the base, are 29-1/2″L x 16-1/4″D x 21″H.
ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING – LUCIA STERN | $995 Original oil painting attributed to Lucia Stern, a highly regarded artist based in Milwaukee. Stern was best known for her work in mixed media, but she also left behind a diverse collection of paintings, three-dimensional art and sculpture. This painting of two horses is on stretched and framed canvas. Overall dimensions are 33″W x 41″H.

Tall, slender floor lamp designed by Ernst Luthiger, made in Switzerland and offered in the United States by George Kovacs. The design of the lamp dates to 1965. It’s made of power-coated steel and has an external, pad-style control switch. In excellent condition. Measures 65″ high with an 11″ diameter footprint.
NOTE: Swiss designer Max Bill often gets credit for this design, but that attribution is incorrect.

The frame is solid old-growth oak finished in an amber tone lacquer that makes it compatible with teak. The bucket seat is newly upholstered in soft brown recycled leather. ALVAR AALTO MODEL 401 EASY CHAIRS | $1,295 EACH Designed by Alvar Aalto (Finland) in 1932, these chairs are a modernist take on the classic wingback, with a slightly canted back for relaxing. The slender wings were designed to minimize visual distractions while lounging. The chairs we’re offering were made in Finland by Artek, and are stamped and numbered. The frames are steam bent beech and the upholstery is deep red wool. The frames and upholstery are in excellent condition.

SIGVARD BERNADOTTE PIVOTING BACK CHAIRS | $595 EACH Elegant solid wood frame chairs created by Swedish designer Sigvard Bernadotte. They were made by France & Daverkosen (Denmark) and distributed in North America by John Stuart. The gentle contours of these chairs make them distinctive enough, but it’s the pivoting backrests that add an element of surprise. The open frame keeps them visually light, but they provide the comfort of a full-sized chair. Rejuvenated frames and original upholstery in excellent condition. Two chairs available.
