Minneapolis-St. Paul – Nov. 26, 2013. MidModMen+friends, a St. Paul retailer offering vintage modern and contemporary home furnishings, is now featuring original artwork by St. Paul-based artist Lisa Rydin Erickson.
“Our style as a retail destination has always been about offering a full range – a diverse range – of home decor with a modern sensibility,” says owner Neal Kielar. “While the core of our store is vintage modern, we also mix in new furniture from local artisans and original artwork like Lisa’s.”
Erickson’s art incorporates elements of mid-century abstract, 1960s pop art, dominant colors, and organic and geometric shapes. Though mainly a painter, more she’s more recently used both iPad and sumi ink and rice paper to create new works. In 2013 her animations were shown along with script and music in a presentation at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, MinnAnimate and the Minnesota State Fair. She and her daughter also painted large-scale pieces for the 2013 Flint Hillʼs International Children’s Festival.
As part of her artist-in-residence tenure at MidModMen+friends she has created a line of exclusive drawings, which will be available for sale in multiple sizes. She’ll also offer works from her existing portfolio.
The opening event is Saturday, Nov. 30 from 4 PM to 9 PM.
